SETIC owns and operates the Energy Technology Centre (ETC), a unique facility supporting the development of Scotland’s emerging renewable energy and low carbon technology sector by delivering unique facilities and capability for testing and demonstrating the performance of offshore wind, marine and other low carbon technology components and sub-systems.

The ETC is a key part of Scotland’s energy test and demonstration support infrastructure within which SETIC has worked with partners to establish a network of Scottish energy stakeholders by fostering links with other Energy Centres, Scottish Universities and energy trade associations.

SETIC is focussed on the provision of the specialist component / sub-system test and demonstration services which are important in de-risking and encouraging investor confidence, helping to develop Scotland’s supply industries, attracting inward investment and helping achieve future renewable energy targets.

SETIC’s activities from within the ETC support key National and EU-wide priorities by helping to fundamentally underpin the development and demonstration of new technologies specifically within energy generation, heat generation, transport, environmental and clean technologies, which will lead to emissions reduction or improved carbon intensity by 2020.
